There were many surprises in the second game that I was glad to see happen. Players had a chance to redeem themselves from last season's semifinal loss and show that they were still forces to be reckoned with. Once again, timely hitting, pitching, and superior defense was on display for Buford. The Wolves slugged it out with the Wildcats through six innings and shut the door on Whitewater to capture Buford's first state title in baseball since 2011. This was the first baseball state finals that I was able to cover since 2007 and I can honestly say that I was nervous throughout the game, but not because I didn't think that the Wolves could pull out the victory. I was more nervous about covering the game from my perspective and giving the players, their friends, and families the best possible images to relive the memories of the night the team made history. I feel like that happened and I can only hope that they feel the same way.
